Prep + Dispense: Retinol night cream is intended for evening use, because the ingredient can increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Apply a pea-sized amount to clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Once absorbed you may follow with the reset of your skincare routine. Limit initial use of retinol cream to 1-2 times per week, and then gradually increase frequency to every night, as tolerated. It’s important to establish consistent skin tolerance before increasing the concentration of retinol used.
Apply + Complete: Always use a high-protection, broad spectrum sunscreen as the last step of your morning routine. As a precaution, retinol cream products should not be used by pregnant women or women who intend to become pregnant in the near future. If you have any concerns, consult a healthcare professional.

As part of your evening routine, use a pea-sized amount and spread evenly across your face. Avoid the eye area. To minimise irritation when applying retinol, SkinCeuticals recommends following the “sandwich method”. To do this, first apply a thin layer of moisturiser or hyaluronic acid serum such as H.A. Intensifier, to help create a moisture barrier. Follow this with application of Retinol 0.3 cream, then end with the A.G.E. Interrupter Advanced Anti-Wrinkle Cream. Retinol increases sun sensitivity of the skin, so always include a broad-spectrum high SPF sunscreen, such as SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense Sunscreen SPF50 as the final step of your morning routine.

Retinol is considered by many as the king of skincare ingredients, displaying many versatile benefits of skin types and skin concerns ranging from anti-ageing to acne-prone skin and pigmentation issues. Pure retinol creams such as SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3 are highly effective due to its actives formulation - consisting of just retinol and bisabol (a soothing agent to make it suitable for use on sensitive skin). Retinol 0.3 helps with skin cell renewal due to its exfoliating nature, revealing brighter-looking radiant skin. It is also non-comedogenic (does not clog pores), so is suitable for those with oily, acne prone skin types.

Yes you can. However, if you are new to retinol, SkinCeuticals recommends starting out at just 2-3 times a week and gradually increasing this to every night, to help build tolerance. Always apply retinol night cream to clean, dry skin. Damp skin may cause the retinol to penetrate deeper into the skin, leading to irritation.

SkinCeuticals recommends applying a thin, even layer of water-based moisturiser first. Then apply a pea-sized amount of the retinol night cream and spread evenly. Follow with a thicker face moisturiser to help seal moisture within the skin moisture barrier. This is known as the “sandwich method” of application for retinol. Following this method also helps minimise or avoid irritation, making retinol creams more acceptable for sensitive skin types.

If you are new to retinol, SkinCeuticals always recommends starting with a lower percentage of retinol (Retinol 0.3 from the SkinCeuticals range) and use just 2-3 times a week to help build tolerance. This will help minimise skin irritation, and enable users with sensitive skin to incorporate retinol into their routines. After increasing the frequency of retinol application progressively from 2-3 times a week to daily use, the percentage of retinol used can also be increased over the next 6-8 months of using retinol.
