Prep + Dispense: Having cleansed your face, apply a thin layer of the moisturiser and allow to dry (regardless of concentration, retinol should not be applied to damp skin as it may be absorbed more deeply and cause irritation). Once skin is dry, apply a pea-sized amount of Retinol 1.0 night cream, closely followed by a second layer of moisturiser to sandwich moisture in. Allow for full absorption before applying other products and limit initial use of retinol to once or twice weekly. Gradually increase the frequency to every other night, then every night as tolerance builds. SkinCeuticals recommends users new to retinol start with Retinol 0.3 , progress to Retinol 0.5 and only then to Retinol 1.0.
Apply + Complete: Retinol is prone to increase skin photosensitivity, so ALWAYS use a high SPF, broad spectrum sunscreen during the day.
As a precaution, retinol cream products should not be used by pregnant women, or women who intend to become pregnant soon. Always consult a healthcare professional before using.

To use Retinol 1.0 effectively, start by cleansing skin with a facial cleanser and let the face dry (regardless of concentration, retinol should not be applied to damp skin as it may be absorbed more deeply and cause irritation). SkinCeuticals recommends applying a facial moisturiser both before and after retinol application to minimise risk of irritation. Apply a small amount of this high strength retinol to your face and neck, avoiding the eyes. Only apply retinol 1.0 at night as it can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.
-
Using Retinol 1.0 every day is possible, but it is important if you are introducing it into your daily skincare routine for the first time to begin by using it only every second night to minimise skin irritation. You should also only start using Retinol 1.0 after an acclimatisation period using lower strength retinol products such as Retinol 0.3 and then Retinol 0.5. Retinol is a potent ingredient that can initially lead to skin dryness and visible redness. Acclimatisation at lower strengths and less frequent use to start with will help your skin adjust to the high strength retinol. As your skin becomes more accustomed, you can gradually increase the frequency to nightly application. Always use moisturiser before and after retinol to minimise skin sensitivity.

Retinol 1.0 is a potent skincare product designed to address signes premature ageing and sun-damaged skin. Its primary active ingredient is retinol (a form of vitamin A), known for its exfoliating properties. This retinol 1% night cream can also help improve the appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation.
-
When introducing retinol to a skincare routine, it is important it is introduced slowly and gradually. Retinol is a potent ingredient known for its skin-renewing properties, but can also lead to dryness, redness, and sensitivity, especially when starting out. Beginners should start with a lower concentration, like Retinol 0.3 Cream or Retinol 0.5 Cream. Starting with a lower concentration allows skin to adapt and reduce the risk of skin reactions. SkinCeuticals also recommends using retinol products at night and to wear a high SPF, broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day (retinol can increase sun sensitivity).
-
The frequency of using SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0 Anti-Ageing Night Cream depends on your skin's level of tolerance to retinol is l and whether you've used retinol products previously. SkinCeuticals recommends starting with less frequent use, such as 2-3 times a week to allow skin time to adjust to the product. Increase progressively to nightly as skin tolerance develops. Always follow with a face moisturiser after the retinol cream to seal in moisture and help with potential dryness. Also, apply a high-SPF broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day, as retinol can heighten your skin's photsensitivity.
